Massimiliano Ferreri was born in Rome, Italy in 1975 and since August of 2006 he lives in Oaxaca, Mexico. As a child he refused to paint without desire. Today he recognizes the life of each painting that wants to be born and he listens to it as it grows.

He was a student of technical drawing in Rome. Scuba diving and paragliding for him are ways of looking for new colors. For six years he directed social events (sports, games, cabaret and plays) in various tourist resorts throughout Italy. Later he supervised two Mexican restaurant-discotheques in Rome for seven years. In his work and in his leisure he questions life by searching for the essence of color.

In 1998 a painting asked him to be born and he searched as to why. In order to speak with life, to listen and to understand, he began to paint. He approached a canvas on the floor wanting to “make love with the color and nothing more”. As a result he recognized his passion for painting and in the year 2000 he participated in the most important art contest in Italy organized by the magazine Arte. Of 3,000 artists that participated he was chosen as a finalist amongst the fifteen best painters.

In 2003 he looked to volunteering as a reason to live. He left Rome to see the eyes of children in Ethiopia and of ex drug addicts in Bosnia. After finding the joy that they gave him he decided to look for something that would generate the same joy within him.

Mexico has always been a place that has spoken to him. In particular Mayan art for him remains as hopeful evidence that humanity is capable of evolving in harmony with nature. He moved to Oaxaca to live painting not only as a passion but also as a necessity. Like a man adrift in a stormy sea holds on to the rocks that will save his life, the artist holds on to his paintings to survive. For him each painting is the opportunity to create a small, harmonious world. And each painting contains the shadow of his existence.

His art was well received by the community of artists in Oaxaca. His work found hospitality between the best galleries in Oaxaca such as gallery AMATT, Arte Contemporáneo, Yohoneza, Galeria 910,Raíz es and in Mexico City the historic Lourdes Chumacera gallery. He has participated in three collectives, one of which took place in Mexico City with prominent artists from Oaxaca and he was invited to art festival Humanitas in Oaxaca city, and in Agust 2007 to individual exposition in Galery 910,the event captured the interest of the press and the television.

Massimiliano continues searching with love the color that defines his passion.
